Louis Aragon (1897-1982) was a French poet, novelist and essayist. He was one of the founders of the surrealist movement and participated in the French Resistance during World War II. Some of his most famous works include the novel "Les Cloches de Bâle" and the poem "Il n'y a pas d'amour heureux." He was also a member of the French Communist Party and wrote many political essays and articles. Aragon received numerous awards and honors, including the Grand Prix National des Lettres and the Lenin Peace Prize.
